IndiaSkills Gujarat 2020

WorldSkills is the largest skill competition in the world held once every two years in a WorldSkills member country. As part of Skill India mission, WorldSkills India is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. NSDC, through its WorldSkills India initiative, has been leading the country’s participation at WorldSkills International Competitions since 2011. The Indian contingent comprising 48 participants represented the country in 44 skills at the WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

Gujarat Skill Development Mission organized IndiaSkills Gujarat in the year 2018. Top 20 contestants from 10 skills competed in IndiaSkills West-2018 regional competition and 6 contestants competed in IndiaSkills 2018, where Gujarat won Silver medal in Cabinet making skill.

IndiaSkills Gujarat 2020 provided opportunity to the youth to showcase their talent in various skills. The winners will represent the State at regional skill competition. Winners of the regional competition will represent the State at IndiaSkills 2020 which will open gates to the WorldSkills 2021 to be conducted at Shanghai, China.

Gujarat Skill Development Mission

The objective of the mission is to create an overarching integrated framework for action for skill development. Gujarat Skill Development Mission acts as an apex body for monitoring, coordination, convergence and providing overall policy direction for skill development activities in Gujarat.

Aim of the mission is to make each and every youth of Gujarat employable. The mission always strives to systematize the skill development efforts in the state and create an environment where each and every youth not only gets employable skill training but also gets gainful employment.

Directorate of Employment & Training

Objective of Directorate of Employment & Training is to provide vocational training and employment services to the youth in the State. The Directorate has been in the forefront of implementing various skill-building programs in the State. Major two training Schemes implemented by the directorate are Craftsman training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes and Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS).
